In 2000, I began my photographic series "Human Land Urban Landscapes". My interest stemmed from the my curiosity regarding the connections and contradictions between nature, architecture and how interpret, exist and co-exist. This image was taken during my travels throughout Estonia. In particular this lake in Southern Estonia is the border between Estonia and Russia. The image was taken just 10 years after Estonia finally regained it's independence in 1990 from a long and brutal occupation by Russia.
