My work explores the boundaries between an inner interpretation and an outer reality, through both video and through performance. The basis of the work is motion, that is, storytelling through movement manipulated in editing.
‘Delphie takes a breath,’ my current project, began in late 2003 with a short video. Shot in a Chelsea gallery, a platinum blonde explodes in a frenzy aimed at her pink vacuum cleaner. The video, premiering at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival 2004, evolved into an installation, live performance with video, and performance in a storefront window. It is being developed into a half evening show of performance with video in 2006, and full evening in 2007.
The short film offered, ‘She’s Pale from Hiding in the Shade,’ is the project just prior to Delphie.
A background in choreography and graphic arts evolved into making short films. Ms. Berkshire’s current project combines film with performance.
