I saw this piece after checking FAAN when Adam Simon wrote news of the last article written about this great site.
i loved this piece immediately. I Wrote Cassandra and told her of my lifelong affection for works that caught a moment of the interactions of fluids- in so many words- because that is what i see here.
Beginnings hangs in our living room where i pass it often and admire it, and, as i told Cassandra i interact after a brief glantz at it by- in my mind's eye- allowing my imagination to envision the subsequent actions of the fluids which are then on my retina.
I generate a little movie of these repurposed colors continuing their interaction. One time they swirled slowly into a central vortex and spiraled down into it until the canvas was simply mint. That generated the reverse : where the paint oozed OUT of the same vortex and spread off the canvas and down the wall creating stripes...
Nuts perhaps but I need these little breaks from whatever's stuffing the head.
Her Green approach and and the decorative convections that she offers are a wise strategy and infinitely accessible.
I am going to put it in a frame that allows the painted sides of the piece exposure as well.
i may ask cassandra if she'd mind if i hung it as a portrait now and then. is that wrong?
Thanks Cassandra!
